Fishing Conditions

It’s gametime above Vallecito.  Get your hiking boots on, get out early, and get after it.  Dry/droppers tend to be a good setup through the summer, but full nymph rigs in the deeper holes if nothing is rising.  Look for caddis and mayfly hatches.

The outflow of the dam is higher and being bumped up, but fishing will be decent.  With the higher flows below, fishing a heavy nymph rig with worms, stonefly nymphs, or a mop.

Nymphs: Prince nymphs 14-18, Pat’s Rubberlegs 8-12 or Jigged Pats 8-12, Black and Blue Copper Johns 14-18, Pheasant tails 18-22, Juju Baetis 18-20, San Juan Worms.

Dries: Stimulators #12-16, Chubbies 12-16, RIO’s Big Boned Caddis #12-18, Elk Hair Caddis #10-26, Parachute Adams #12-16, Millers Moth 12-14, Morrish Hopper 10-14.
